How can i explain to my mum what hairstyle i want?

I have long, wavy brown hair that i usually straighten. I saw an actress on tv with gorgeous medium lengthed hair and my hair is so hard to manage and her hair is so beautiful and looks easy to manage i want to cut my hair the same length as her. I want to tell my mum that i want to cut my hair the same length as her but im quite embarrased when it comes to things like that. How can i explain to her that's what i really want without sounding like it's just a phase im going through. She loves my long hair and i do too (it comes down to my bra strap) but it's just too hard to manage and just looks unhealthy and knotty at times. What should i do?

Just tell her how unmanageable your hair has become and that it would be easier to maintain if it was shorter. Also, if you don't like your hair after you get it cut, it will always grow back!

Find a picture of want you want, and just try and bring it up casually, like "hey, my hair is hard to manage and it starting to look unhealthy, would it be ok if I changed it up a bit?" and then show her the hairstyle and get her opinion. Nothing to be embarrased about at all as long as your confident in what you want ^.^

Say that although you love your long hair, you think it's time to cut it because it's getting unhealthy. Show her where you want to cut it to and explain to her that it's NOT a phase you are going through. Say you want your hair to be manageable and you don't want it to look like a mess! What do you think?" also, include the part about how your hair looks unhealthy and knotty. a styled shorter 'do could look a thousand times better than an unruly long mane! just be up front and do not back down. find pics of the do online, and show her. make her feel like she's included! good luck!
